Q. Do you still support Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7/8/8.1?
JETCAM should run on Vista and Windows 7/8/8.1, however in the event of issues that may be attributed to the OS version we would recommend upgrading to the latest version of Windows.
Q. What specification of PC will I need to run JETCAM products?
JETCAM Expert, JOC Premium and Line Commander can run on a wide range of systems. For CrossTrack system requirements please contact your reseller.
CPU: Intel Core i3 or greater.
RAM: 32 bit OS – 2GB. 64bit OS 4GB.
Graphics: XGA (1024x768)
Hard disc: 150MB for JETCAM Expert, with 400MB for video tutorials
OS: Windows 10, Windows 11
Recommended specifications:
CPU: I7 processor – for automatic nesting. The more cores, the better
RAM: 16GB or greater
Graphics: 1080P (1920 x 1080)
Hard disc: SSD for best performance, with all components/nests stored locally.
If you are running High Performance Nesting then we would recommend more memory and higher specification multi-core CPU to take full advantage of it. There are no specific graphics card requirements as JETCAM Expert is optimised not to require GPU acceleration, therefore the standard on-board graphics card that is built into your PC should be sufficient. A screen resolution of 1024x768 or greater is recommended at either 24 or 32 bit colour depth. V18+ high performance nesting is no longer supported on NT4 or XP. JETCAM Expert takes up less than 100MB of hard disc space. Video tutorials in JETCAM University are streamed from the cloud, so do not take up additional space.
Q. Will JETCAM run on an Apple Mac computer?
It depends on the Mac. If you have models capable of running Windows under emulation such as Parallels then Yes. We have several Apple Mac users that are running JETCAM Expert to generate nests for their CNC machines.
Q. My PC crashed and I need to reinstall the JETCAM hardware dongle or soft license drivers - where can I get them.
You can get them from our dongle driver page.
Q. I want to change my parallel dongle to USB or a soft license.
A. Many companies are moving from PCs to laptops, which often no longer have parallel ports fitted. We can exchange your parallel dongle for a USB or soft license one for a nominal fee. Please contact your reseller for a quotation.
Q. What if I lose my dongle?
A. The dongle IS the license, so we recommend that you have adequate insurance to cover the cost of a replacement license should it be lost or stolen. A damaged dongle can be returned replaced for a nominal fee, or you can switch to a soft license.
Q. Will JETCAM work with my CNC machines?
Almost certainly yes, even with older machines. You can view a general list
of currently supported punching, laser, plasma, waterjet, routing and composite cutting machines online, but note that we are regularly adding support for new machines. Many machine accessories (such as loaders, RAS) are
also supported. If you would like further confirmation, contact your local office.
Q. How long does training normally take?
Usually less than two days and can be much quicker depending on your operators existing CAD/CAM experience. JETCAM's online video University will ensure that additional training is not required by allowing users to obtain immediate audio/visual assistance.
Q. Where does training take place?
At one of JETCAM's designated training centres, locations available worldwide. Alternatively, on-site training is available.
Q. What is the lead-time from order placement to installation?
This varies from dealer to dealer, but usually is around two weeks. USB dongles are shipped same or next day from date of order, and soft licenses can also be generated very quickly.
Q. Can I use my existing programs with JETCAM?
JETCAM integrates well with your existing CAD package and accepts all major CAD formats such as DXF, DWG, IGES etc. Many CAD packages have an automatic link into JETCAM, generating NC code within seconds. We provide a number of free CAD interfaces (free for customers with a current maintenance contract) for CAD systems such as SolidEdge, SolidWorks and AutoPOL.
Q. Who else is using JETCAM?
Many world-class companies, including ABB, BAE, Bell Helicopter, Bombardier, Embraer, Electrolux, Ericsson, GE, Hitachi, Volvo and Chrysler. Many machine tools are supplied with JETCAM Expert software installed as standard.
Q. What does maintenance include?
Maintenance entitles you to unlimited technical support by your supplier, both over the phone and via Internet. You will also be entitled to receive regular User Updates of relevant JETCAM products, either by requesting update CDs or downloading new versions directly from our website. As JETCAM constantly improves and updates its products, this on its own delivers huge benefits.
Q. What if I have a problem - what's the procedure?
JETCAM is confident that you are likely to have little or no
requirement to call for technical support, as, once configured correctly, all JETCAM systems will continue to work faultlessly. In the unlikely event of a problem however, we offer several methods of service. Please contact your reseller for further information.
