How we install JETCAM
What happens after installation, who else uses JETCAM and other issues
Q. Can I use my existing PC's?
Yes, as long as it confirms to minimum specifications set out bellow (many JETCAM dealers can also supply you with PCs, both for JETCAM Expert nesting software and for your DNC link software to the machine tool(s) on the shop floor).
Q. Do you still support Windows XP?
A. JETCAM Expert v18 will still run on XP, but the new high performance nesting does not. Read more here.
Q. What specification of PC will I need to run JETCAM?
RAM: 32 bit OS – 2GB. 64bit OS 4GB.
Graphics: XGA (1024x768)
Hard disc: 150MB for JETCAM Expert, with 400MB for video tutorials
OS: Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1
CPU: I7 processor – for automatic nesting
RAM: 8GB or greater
Hard disc: SSD for best performance, with all components/nests stored locally.
If you are running High Performance Nesting then we would recommend more memory and higher specification multi-core CPU to take full advantage of it. There are no specific graphics card requirements as JETCAM Expert is optimised not to require GPU acceleration, therefore the standard on-board graphics card that is built into your PC should be sufficient. A screen resolution of 1024x768 or greater is recommended at either 24 or 32 bit colour depth. V18 high performance nesting is no longer supported on NT4 or XP. JETCAM Expert takes up less than 100MB
of hard disc space, unless you wish to install the Video
Help files, which can require up to 200-300 megabytes.
Q. Will JETCAM run on an Apple Mac computer?
It depends on the Mac. If you have a newer model with an Intel CPU capable of running Windows then the answer is Yes. We have several Apple Mac users that are running JETCAM Expert to generate nests for their CNC machines.
Q. My PC crashed and I need to reinstall the JETCAM dongle drivers - where can I get them.
You can get them from our dongle driver page here.
Q. I want to change my parallel dongle to USB.
A. Many companies are moving from PCs to laptops, which often no longer have parallel ports fitted. We can exchange your parallel dongle for a USB one for a nominal fee. Please contact your reseller for a quotation.
Q. What if I lose my dongle?
A. Customers can purchase an 'emergency dongle' that can be activated for a short period of time while replacements are shipped. We do recommend that customers ensure that they have adequate insurance to cover the cost of the license if the dongle is lost or stolen.
Q. Will JETCAM work with my CNC machines?
Almost certainly yes,
even with older machines. You can view a general list
of currently supported punching, laser, plasma, waterjet, routing and composite cutting machines online, but note that we are regularly adding support for new machines.
Many machine accessories (such as loaders, RAS) are
also supported. If you would like further confirmation,
contact your local office.
Q. How long does training normally take?
than two days and can be much quicker depending on your
operators existing CAD/CAM experience. JETCAM's F2 Video
help will ensure that additional training is not required by allowing users to obtain immediate context sensitive audio/visual assistance. Read more about JETCAM's training here.
Q. Where does training take place?
At one of JETCAM's designated training centres, locations

What is the lead-time from order placement to installation?
varies from dealer to dealer, but usually is around two
